Exploration Geoscientist, President and Founder

Peter MacKenzie, a US Army and National Guard Veteran, earned his Geological Sciences B.Sc.
degree from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. A voracious appetite for field geology has
taken Mr. MacKenzie through most of the fifty states, into Canada, culminating with work measuring
and describing Permian and Triassic clastic rocks in the Geologists Range in the Trans-Antarctic
Mountains in Antarctica.
Mr. MacKenzie has been sucessfully directing exploration activities in the Appalachian Basin
for oil and natural gas resources for over fifteen years. He has extensive experience in the design,
implemention, and interpretation of 2d and 3d seismic programs, he is a pioneering advocate for the
use of 3d seismic in the Appalachian Basin for the exploitation of exploration-class oil and gas
reserves.
Mr. MacKenzie is a member of the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists (SIPES) #2991, a
member and Certified Petroleum Geologist of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) #5781
and Trustee Associate of the AAPG Foundation, a Certified Professional Geologist, a member of the
Independent Producers Association of America and member of the American Institute of Professional
Geologists (AIPG) #10698. Mr. MacKenzie is a past President of the Eastern Section of the American
Association of Petroleum Geologists, Inc. and is currently the At-Large Director for SIPES, the
Division of Professional Affairs Councilor for the Eastern Section to AAPG, a member of the Board of
Governors for the AAPG Washington Office, President of The Ohio State University Geological
Sciences Alumni Society, and a current Candidate for AAPG Secretary.

Geologist and Engineer
Martin R. Shumway earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the College of Engineering at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio and Kentucky. Mr. Shumway’s broad discipline spanning experience includes base metal and gold exploration in Alaska and western Canada as a field geologist for a major Canadian mining company, geotechnical and structural engineering analysis and design work, oil and gas exploration, development, and prospect generation and evaluation. Mr. Shumway is experienced with several petroleum industry computer software packages, GIS applications, and database applications.
Professional association memberships include the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists (SIPES #3162), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Mr. Shumway joined MacKenzie Land & Exploration in October 2005.
